Join artists, elected officials, patrons, business leaders and community members of all ages for a celebration of the opening of the N-Squared Studios Without Walls "Beyond Boundaries" Greenway Arts exhibition, which features 15 site responsive sculptures along the 1-mile Upper Falls Greenway.
We'll gather in Pettee Square, near the Depot Coffee Shoppe for the event, which will feature music, food, arts demonstrations, and a short speaking program around 5:30. Following, you'll have plenty of daylight hours to explore the sculptures up along the Greenway or to mingle with fellow community members.
MORE ABOUT THE GREENWAY ARTS PROJECT
The Greenway Arts project is a collaboration between the N-Squared Innovation District Initiative, Studios Without Walls and the New Art Center to help attract people the Upper Falls Greenway. The curated Upper Falls Exhibit, titled Beyond Boundaries, will feature work from up to 15 artists from around the Boston area including those from Newton and Needham. By joining the arts community with local residents and businesses, the N-Squared Innovation District Initiative aims to activate the greenway as a gathering point for everyone.
All the sculptures are designed to fit into the landscape, with some being commissioned specifically for this property. This includes one piece titled Qwgklak of Upper Falls, a plant creature that could reach 6 to 8 feet tall.
The exhibit, which will run through Sept. 2, was curated with underwriting support by The Village Bank, The and Northland Development Corp., patron sponsors Charles River Neighborhood Foundation and Crosspoint Associates, benefactor sponsors The New Art Center in Newton, Inc. and the Bay Colony Rail Trail as well as generous donations from individuals within the community.
