The Needham History Center & Museum will present a talk with Lauren Clark, author of Crafty Bastards: Beer in New England from the Mayflower to Modern Day. The talk will take place on Sunday, March 18 at 2pm at the Center’s offices located at 1147 Central Avenue, Needham.
Brewing in New England goes back four centuries, to the Pilgrims who dropped anchor in Plymouth because their supply of beer was running low. Clark, a former bartender, brewer, and drinks journalist, will take guests through a deeper appreciation for beer and the challenges inherent in creating the perfect pint. Giving voice to the inimitable Yankee spirit that allows New Englanders to faithfully produce some of best beers in the nation, Clark invites guests to take a giant swig of brewing past and present.
A craft beer tasting courtesy of Needham-based Reveler will follow the lecture. Reveler recently opened its Chestnut Street location and is the destination for craft beverages. Founder Scott Linzmeyer will work with Lauren to develop a tasting in concert with her lecture.
The program is free and open to the public as part of the Needham History Center’s 2017-18 program calendar sponsored by North Hill. For more information, please contact Gloria Greis at greis@needhamhistory.org or 781 455 8860.
