Help My Aging Parents
- Elder Care
The mission of Help My Aging Parents is to prepare the adult child to be ready to 'step in' when their older relative needs support. The philosophy of Help My Aging Parents is to promote autonomy and independence yet ensuring that the aging individual continues to live and age safely and comfortably. Consultations are given to both adult children of aging relatives, as well as, leaders / management in the workplace:
* Adult Children: goal is to educate and empower the adult child (who anticipates caregiving responsibilities) to be ready to step in when the aging relative needs support. It is critical that the adult child takes a proactive approach; in other words, to have a plan in place before a crisis occurs. The adult child will be provided guidance on how to initiate the conversation, as well as, plan for housing options, healthcare, legal documents, social engagement, and transportation.
* Workplace: goal is to asses Eldercare Culture as well as educate employees on important eldercare issues, including assessing the time to step in, how to start the conversation, developing an action plan, education around aging services & resources, and caregiver self-care.
